Update to system normal constraint equation in NSW for transient voltage stability in south-west NSW

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

Refer to market notice 92840.

Transgrid has advised AEMO of an update to the transient voltage stability limit in south-west NSW for loss of Darlington Point to Wagga (63) 330 kV line. The limit will include terms for the Darlington Point and Riverina BESS.

The following constraint equation will be updated with the above changes at 1100 hrs Friday 20th September 2024.
N::N_NIL_63

For full details on the formulation, the new constraint equation has now been loaded into AEMO's pre-production systems.

For further details on these constraint equation please contact ben.blake@aemo.com.au

Cancellation of a Non-Credible Contingency Event: Farrell-John Butters line and Farrell-Rosebery-Newton-Queenstown line in TAS1 due to Lightning.

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

Cancellation of reclassification of a Non-Credible Contingency Event as a Credible Contingency Event due to Lightning. AEMO considers the simultaneous trip of the following circuits is no longer reasonably possible. There is no longer any lightning activity in the vicinity of the following lines. Accordingly its classification has reverted to a non-credible contingency event.

Region: TAS1

Lines: Farrell-John Butters and Farrell-Rosebery-Newton-Queenstown

Cancellation time: 19/09/2024 12:34

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

Reclassification of a Non-Credible Contingency Event as a Credible Contingency Event due to Lightning. AEMO considers the simultaneous trip of the following circuits to now be more likely and reasonably possible. Accordingly AEMO has reclassified it as a credible contingency event.

Region: TAS1

Lines: Farrell-John Butters and Farrell-Rosebery-Newton-Queenstown

Cancellation: Reclassification of non-credible contingency event due to existence of widespread abnormal condition - NEM region.

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE.
AEMO considers the occurrence of a non-credible contingency event due to the widespread abnormal conditions advised in AEMO Electricity Market Notice 118311 is no longer reasonably possible and accordingly its classification has reverted to non-credible.

Cancellation time: 1145 hrs 18/09/2024.

No constraints were invoked during this event

Reclassification of non-credible contingency event due to existence of widespread abnormal condition/s - NEM regions

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE.
AEMO has identified that a non-credible contingency event impacting the power system is more likely to occur and is considered reasonably possible because of the existence of widespread abnormal conditions namely Severe Space Weather Watch in the NEM regions.

AEMO has therefore reclassified the occurrence of a non-credible contingency event involving multiple plant due to these abnormal conditions as credible.

Duration: 0200 hrs 18/09/2024 until further notice

Need for further measures is being monitored and further measures may be implemented in line with the Power System Security Guidelines (SO_OP_3715).
