Reducing network congestion will allow generators in the region to participate more fully in the energy market, expanding the energy supply mix and increasing competition to the benefit of consumers.

In this edition of the Energy Live podcast series, we hear from the Australian Energy Market Operator’s (AEMO’s) Group Manager of Victorian Planning, Joe Spurio, to learn more about the Western Victoria renewable integration project, which will improve transmission capacity in the region.

The project plays an important role in efficiently facilitating the energy transformation that is currently underway in Australia, by developing the electricity transmission network in regional Victoria.

AEMO’s preferred option is detailed in the Project Assessment Draft Report.

Tune in to the podcast below to find out what the project aims to achieve, who will benefit, and the next steps for AEMO.
