In accordance with clause 4.8.9 of the National Electricity Rules AEMO has issued directions to participants in the South Australia region.
The directions were necessary to maintain the power system in a secure operating state.
The directions was issued from 0130 hrs 01/12/2016 and will remain in place until further notice.

POWER SYSTEM EVENT
At 0016 hrs 1st December 2016 the SA power system seperated from the NEM but remains operating as a separate entity. AEMO are investigating the cause and will develop and implement a reconnection plan as soon as practical.

At 2034 hrs the Innisfail No2 132 kV bus tripped.
AEMO did not instruct load shedding.
AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.
The cause of this non credible contingency event has been identified and AEMO is satisfied that another occurrence of this event is unlikely under the current circumstances.
AEMO will not reclassify this event as a credible contingency event.

At 0953 hrs the Hazelwood - Loy Yang No. 1 500 kV Line tripped at the Hazelwood end only. The line was placed on load at 0956 hrs.
AEMO did not instruct load shedding.
AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.
The cause of this non credible contingency event has been identified and AEMO is satisfied that another occurrence of this event is unlikely under the current circumstances.
AEMO will not reclassify this event as a credible contingency event.

A trip of three generators at H48 Braemar2 Power Station occurred at 1407 hrs
Braemar 5 tripped from 153 MW
Braemar 6 tripped from 151 MW
Braemar 7 tripped from 72 MW
The total loss of generation was approximately 376 MW
AEMO did not instruct load shedding.
AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.
The cause of this non credible contingency event is still being investigated.

At 1400hrs 29/10/16 the Canberra - Williamsdale No.3C 330kV transmission line and the Williamsdale 1 330/132 kV transformer were returned to service.
The cause of this non credible contingency event has been identified and AEMO is satisfied that another occurrence of this event is unlikely under the current circumstances.
AEMO will not reclassify this event as a credible contingency event.
