From 0950 hrs to 1430 hrs AEMO applied a constraint to a generating unit in the South Australia region to minimise the effect on interconnector flows and minimise the number of Affected Participants in accordance with clause 4.8.9(h) of the National Electricity Rules.

AEMO declares all dispatch intervals during the AEMO Intervention Event to be intervention price dispatch intervals.
The AEMO Intervention Event commenced in the 0750 hrs dispatch interval and is forecast to apply until 1200 hrs 26/04/17
Intervention pricing will be implemented during the AEMO Intervention Event.

Update to AEMO Electricity Market Notice 58395
AEMO has received further information regarding this event. The protection that tripped the Moorabool - Mortlake 500 kV Line at the Moorabool end only operated as per design. Hence, AEMO no longer considers this to be a non-credible contingency event.
The Moorabool - Mortlake 500 kV Line remains out of service. Refer to AEMO Network Outage Scheduler (NOS) for further details.

Update to AEMO Electricity Market Notice 58394
At 1107 hrs the Moorabool - Mortlake 500 kV Line tripped at the Moorabool end only.
At 1110 hrs the Moorabool - Mortlake 500 kV Line was manually de-energised by opening at the Mortlake end.
AEMO did not instruct load shedding.
AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.
The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.

At 1644 hrs the Broken Hill No 2 220/22 kV Transformer and No 2 Section 22 kV Bus tripped. This equipment has been returned to service.
The cause of this non-credible contingency event has been identified and AEMO is satisfied that another occurrence of this event is unlikely under the current circumstances.
AEMO will not reclassify this event as a credible contingency event.
