Direction - South Australia region - Intervention Pricing

An AEMO Intervention Event has been implemented by issuing a direction to maintain the power system in a secure operating state.
AEMO declares all dispatch intervals during the AEMO Intervention Event to be intervention price dispatch intervals.
The AEMO Intervention Event will commence in the 0000 hrs 10/10/16 dispatch interval and is forecast to apply until 0530 hrs 10/10/16
Intervention pricing will not be implemented from the 0000 hrs 10/10/16 dispatch interval until the end of the AEMO Intervention Event.

In accordance with clause 4.8.9 of the National Electricity Rules AEMO has issued a direction to a participant in the South Australia region.
The direction was necessary to maintain the power system in a secure operating state.
The direction was issued at 2054 hrs and is expected to stay in place until 0530 hrs 10/10/16

An actual LOR2 condition has been declared for the South Australia region from 0700 hrs and is forecast to continue until 1700 hrs during a planned outage of Moorabool - Mortlake 500 kV line in the Victoria region.
If a credible contingency event occurs in this period the South Australia region would separate from the rest of the NEM and is likely to result in interruptions to power supplies.
There are sufficient capacity reserves in the South Australia region to meet electricity demand but it may not be possible to bring the required additional capacity into service in time to avoid automatic under-frequency load shedding causing power interruptions.
