AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE.
Planned outage of Tailem Bend 275kV - South East 275kV No.1 line from 04/07/2016 0745 hrs to 12/07/2016 1730hrs
During these outage, South Australia region will remain connected to the NEM. However, there is a risk of South Australia region separating from the rest of the NEM following the next credible contingency (trip Tailem Bend 275kV - South East 275kV No.2 line).
AEMO will take all necessary steps as outlined in Section 6.1 of SO-OP-3715 Power System Security Guideline to manage the orderly separation of SA from the NEM following the next credible contingency.
Prior to the orderly separation of SA, the following FCAS regulation constraints will be invoked to manage security of South Australia power system.

Update on Heywood Interconnector upgrade

ElectraNet expects to achieve commercial operation of the South East - Tailem Bend 275 kV line series compensation by 31 July 2016. At this time, capability of the Heywood interconnector will be 570 MW for transfer from Victoria to South Australia and 500 MW for transfer from South Australia to Victoria. Further transfer capability will be released subject to completion of inter-network testing to prove system performance and validate system models. System conditions for the conduct of these tests are being obtained through normal market dispatch.
Based on progress with the testing to date, full capability for transfer from Victoria to South Australia is likely to be achieved by February 2017. However, it appears unlikely that the market will deliver sufficient test conditions to enable achievement of full capability for transfer from South Australia to Victoria before March 2017.
If the full range of required conditions are not obtained by July 2017, AEMO and ElectraNet may seek to obtain test facilitation services in order to complete the inter-network tests. This will allow the market approximately 12 months to deliver the required test conditions from when the South East - Tailem Bend series compensation is commissioned.
