AEMO received a number of additional compensation claims for direct and indirects costs for billing weeks 25 and 26 2022. During this period, AEMO had issued directions requiring the provision of services (reliability) in the NEM, later declared a market suspension. 

In accordance with NER Clause 3.15.7B and 3.14.5B, AEMO may appoint an independent expert to assess and determine the additional compensation claims for the directed participants and market suspension compensation claimants.

To assess the claims by generators claiming exclusively direct costs, AEMO nominated an independent expert on 30 August 2022 with no objections received. AEMO then appointed Sami Aoude from IES Advisory Services as the independent expert to determine compensation.
