Declaration of electricity market suspension

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE
Declaration of electricity market suspension
AEMO declares the spot market suspended in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria with Market Suspension Schedule Pricing (refer NER clause 3.14.5(b)) from Trading Interval 1405 hrs on 15 June 2022 until further notice.
Dispatch prices for the first one or two dispatch intervals of this market suspension will be reviewed manually.
AEMO has determined that it is necessary to suspend the spot market in all regions under NER clause 3.14.3(s)3) because it has become impossible to operate the spot market in accordance with the provisions of the Rules.

Update to Vic to NSW transient stability limit

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

AEMO has completed a comprehensive review of the system normal transient stability limit for loss of a Hazelwood to South Morang 500 kV line for flows from Victoria to New South Wales. The revised limit takes into account a larger range of inertias, demands, interconnector flows and many different plants online. The revised limit is generally lower than the existing limit due to lower demands and inertias in the Victorian system since the last review back in 2016. However, it is expected the revised limit will normally be under-cut by the Victorian export voltage collapse limit for loss of all APD potlines.

The revised constraint equation includes generators in southern NSW and generation in Victoria on the left-hand side as well as interconnectors. Full details on the limits advice are to be published on 04/04/2022 on the AEMO website: https://aemo.com.au/energy-systems/electricity/national-electricity-market-nem/system-operations/congestion-information-resource/limits-advice

This revised limit will be implemented to the Victorian system normal constraint set V-NIL at 1000 hrs Tuesday 5th April 2022, with the following changes:

Constraint equations to remove:
- V::N_NIL_V
- V::N_NIL_S
- V::N_NIL_Q1
- V::N_NIL_Q2
Constraint equations to add:
- V::N_NIL_V1
- V::N_NIL_V2
- V::N_NIL_O1
- V::N_NIL_O2

These constraint equation changes have already been applied in AEMO's PreProduction systems.

For further details on the constraint equations please contact terry.liu@aemo.com.au

Update to System strength requirements in North Queensland

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

Refer to market notice 89836

AEMO and Powerlink are continuing to investigate system strength requirements in North Queensland.
Due to commissioning of Haughton syncon, the system normal equations have been revised.

A revision to the constraint equations will be implemented at 0900hrs on Friday 14th January 2022.

The new combinations have now published in a limits advice document on AEMO's website: For more information refer to the new limits advice: https://www.aemo.com.au/energy-systems/electricity/national-electricity-market-nem/system-operations/congestion-information-resource/limits-advice

This advice contains all the combinations for Queensland for system normal cases.

The constraint equation in the Q-NIL set of the form below will be modified:

Q_NIL_STRGTH_CLRSF
Q_NIL_STRGTH_COLSF
Q_NIL_STRGTH_DAYSF
Q_NIL_STRGTH_HAMSF
Q_NIL_STRGTH_HAUSF
Q_NIL_STRGTH_HAYSF
Q_NIL_STRGTH_KEP
Q_NIL_STRGTH_KIDSF
Q_NIL_STRGTH_MEWF
Q_NIL_STRGTH_RUGSF
Q_NIL_STRGTH_RRSF
Q_NIL_STRGTH_SMSF

Update to system normal constraint equation in NSW for voltage collapse at Darlington Point

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

Refer to Market Notice 90954

TransGrid has advised AEMO of a revision to the Darlington Point to Wagga (63) 330 kV line voltage collapse limit due to changes in a control scheme in the area. With this change the current voltage collapse limit will be replaced by a transient voltage limit - and allow for increased flows on 63 line.

AEMO has reviewed the limit advice and will make the following constraint equation changes at 1300 hrs Wednesday 1st December 2021:
Add - N::N_NIL_63
Remove - N^^N_NIL_2

The limit is for pre-contingent flow on 63 line. The constraint equation includes generators in south-west NSW and north-west Victoria on the left-hand side as well as Murraylink.
