AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

Refer to AEMO Market Notice 54624

Forecast Lack Of Reserve Level 2 (LOR2) in South Australia Region - from 0700 hrs on 10/08/2016 to 1700 hrs on 12/08/2016

AEMO declares Forecast LOR2 conditions for the South Australia region during the planned outage of Heywood No.1 500 kV busbar in Victoria region, from 0700 hrs on 10/08/2016 to 1700 hrs on 12/08/2016.

On the occurrence of a credible contingency during this planned outage, South Australia region could separate from the rest of the NEM and is likely to result in interruptions to power supplies in South Australia.

There are sufficient capacity reserves in the South Australia region to meet electricity demand but following the next credible contingency it may not be possible to bring the required additional capacity into service in time to avoid automatic under-frequency load shedding causing interruptions to power supplies in South Australia.
