Increase in Heywood from SA to Vic limit from 500 to 550 MW

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

As a part of the Heywood Interconnector upgrade the increase in the upper transfer limit from SA to Victoria is dependent on the commissioning of the over frequency generation scheme (OFGS). The OFGS has now been commissioned AEMO has completed and detailed analysis of power system limits at higher transfers.

AEMO will increase the Heywood limit from SA to Vic (from the current 500 MW) to 550 MW and the combined (Heywood and Murraylink) SA to Vic limit from 650 to 700 MW at 1000 hrs on 18 Dec 2019.

The following constraint sets will be revoked:
I-SV_500_TEST
I-SVS_650_TEST

The following constraint sets will be invoked:
I-SV_550_TEST
I-SVS_700_TEST

Reclassification of QNI SPAR as a credible contingency

AEMO MARKET NOTICE

After 25th August 2018 AEMO reclassified the loss of NSW to Qld (QNI) interconnected as a credible contingency when lightning is nearby (as per SO_OP_3715 section 11.4). The limits on QNI under this reclassification are based on the available FCAS in Queensland and NSW - normally the limit is between 300-400 MW in either direction.

Following an investigation TransGrid and Powerlink have made setting changes to the auto reclose settings on QNI and provided AEMO with a new reclassification limit on QNI. Now under similar conditions to 25th August the tripped single phases on QNI would reclose and NSW and Qld is not expected to separate.

The new limit of 850 MW will be activated at 1400 hrs November 15th 2018 for use in future reclassifications of QNI for a single phase fault on both circuits.

Constraint Set:
I-QNI_ONE_PHASE_N-2

New Victorian system normal voltage stability limit

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

A new Victorian system normal constraint equation has been implemented on 15 August 2018 at 0825 hrs. This constraint equation is to manage voltage stability for loss of all APD potlines for transfers from Victoria to NSW. This will most likely limit Victoria to NSW flows under light load conditions.

The new constraint equation is :
V^^N_NIL_1
