Cancellation - Inter-regional transfer limit variation for Transient Stability Limit Victoria Region 29 May 2016

The AEMO Dynamic Stability Analysis application is indicating violations for a fault on a Hazelwood - South Morang 500 kV transmission line in the Victoria region. The following constraint set has been invoked to apply offset reduction to the Victoria transient stability export limit.

Constraint V-DSA_STAB-50 invoked from 0155 hrs to 0220 hrs.
Constraint V-DSA_STAB-100 invoked from 0220 hrs to 0240 hrs.
Constraint V-DSA_STAB-150 invoked from 0240 hrs to 0500 hrs.
Constraint V-DSA_STAB-100 invoked from 0500 hrs to 0600 hrs

Constraints have the following interconnectors on the LHS

Update to Market Notice 53526

At 0851 hrs the South East - Tailem Bend No. 1 275 kV Line and the South East No. 1 275 kV SVC tripped.

At 0930 hrs the South East - Tailem Bend No. 1 275 kV Line was returned to service
At 1617 hrs the South East No. 1 275 kV SVC was returned to service

The following Constraint Sets were revoked at 1630 hrs.

The cause of this non credible contingency event has been identified and AEMO is satisfied that another occurrence of this event is unlikely under the current circumstances.
AEMO will not reclassify this event as a credible contingency event.

Update to Market Notice 53525

At 0930 hrs South East - Tailem Bend No.1 275 kV Line returned to service. The South East No.1 275 kV SVC remains out of service.

The following Constraint Set was revoked at 0945 hrs.

Non-credible contingency event - SA region - 26/05/2016

At 0851 hrs the South East Tailem Bend No. 1 275 kV Line and the South East No. 1 275 kV SVC tripped.

AEMO did not instruct load shedding.

AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.


The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.

At 0851 hrs, in the South Australia region the Tailem Bend to South East No.1 Line tripped in conjunction with the No.1 South East SVC.
