.Non-credible contingency event more likely to occur due to existence of abnormal conditions SA region - Friday 20 December 2019
AEMO has identified that a non-credible contingency event is more likely to occur in the SA region because of the existence of abnormal conditions, namely severe, extreme and catastrophic bushfire conditions forecast for the rest of Friday 20 December 2019 for the following districts:
Catastrophic Fire Danger
Lower Eyre Peninsula, Mid North, Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island and Lower South East
Estreme Fire Danger
Eastern Eyre Peninsula
Severe Fire Danger
North West Pastoral, North East Pastoral, West Coast, Flinders, Adelaide Metropolitan, Riverland, Murraylands and Upper South East.
As at the time of this notice the criteria for reclassification of any non-credible contingency event have not been met, however there is a possibility of bushfires impacting multiple transmission elements in South Australia on Friday 20 December 2019.
Conditions can change rapidly and potentially impacted plant may change. Further notices will only be published to advise of any reclassification, or when the abnormal conditions have ceased to impact the likelihood of a non-credible event occurring.

Implementation of AEMC Rule Determinations in relation to intervention pricing and compensation for system strength directions
The AEMC determination explicitly provides that a direction for the provision of system strength services (among others) will be priced under the normal (that is, non-intervention) pricing provisions of the rules i.e. intervention pricing will no longer apply for these directions.
Direction compensation will still be payable to Directed Participants. However, participants affected by a direction ('Affected Participants') for which intervention pricing is not required will no longer be eligible for compensation under clause 3.12.2 of the NER.
AEMO will be implementing these rules from the first direction issued after midnight AEST on the morning of Friday 20 December. Any direction issued before that time will remain subject to the old intervention pricing regime, even if it continues into the morning of Friday 20 December.
The determinations and rules are available on the AEMC's website at https://www.aemc.gov.au/rule-changes/application-regional-reference-node-test-reliability-and-emergency-reserve-trader and https://www.aemc.gov.au/rule-changes/application-compensation-relation-aemo-interventions.
