Planned outage of Tailem Bend - Cherry Garden 275kV line in the SA region beginning on 28/06/2018
The Tailem Bend - Cherry Garden 275kV line in South Australia (SA) region is planned to be out of service from 0800 hrs on 28/06/2018 to 1730 hrs on 01/07/2018.
During this outage, SA will remain connected to the rest of the NEM via the Tungkillo - Tailem Bend 275kV line and the 132kV network.
A credible contingency event on the Tungkillo - Tailem Bend 275kV line during this planned outage will sever the 275kV connections between the NEM and SA. If SA remains connected to the NEM via the 132kV network, this will pose a system security issue.
If the above credible contingency occurs, 35 MW of raise and lower regulation FCAS will be sourced from within SA.
If this occurs, AEMO will take all necessary steps as outlined in Section 6.1 of SO-OP-3715 Power System Security Guideline to separate the 132kV network and therefore manage an orderly separation of SA from the NEM.

Possible intervention to manage power system security in South Australia (SA) Region
Possible intervention to manage power system security in South Australia (SA) Region
The synchronous generating units expected to be synchronised in SA from 0030 hrs 28/05/2018 in Pre-dispatch published at 1130 hrs 27/05/2018 are inadequate to maintain sufficient system strength in SA and hence a secure operating state.
AEMO currently estimates that, in the absence of sufficient market response by 1800 hrs 27/05/2018, AEMO may need to intervene by issuing a direction requiring one or more SA synchronous generating unit(s) to operate or remain synchronised from 0030 hrs 28/05/2018, to maintain power system security in SA.

HIGH IMPACT OUTAGE - Hazelwood - Loy Yang PS 3 500kV LINE (VIC ) Region - 24/05/2018
The planned outage of Hazelwood - Loy Yang PS 3 500kV LINE in the VIC region has been extended to 1800 hrs 24/05/2018.
The power system will be operated in a secure operating state during this outage.
Following a contingency event AEMO has determined the forecast Victorian demand will be 200 MW in excess of the maximum supportable demand.
If the contingent event occurs up to 200 MW may have to be load shed to return to secure operating state .

Planned frequency tests in Tasmania on 24/05/2018
Frequency tests in Tasmania have been arranged between AEMO and relevant participants.
Testing involves making selective changes to AEMO's AGC control system, and to some of generating units' governors controls in Tasmania to measure the effect on Tasmanian frequency control under normal operating conditions.
Scheduled time of the test is between 1100 hrs - 1500 hrs on 24/05/2018
Market Participants in mainland regions will not be affected by the tests.
