Planned outage of Tailem Bend - South East 275kV No 2 line in the SA region from 04/06/2021 to 06/06/2021.

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

The Tailem Bend - South East 275kV No 2 line in South Australia (SA) region is planned to be out of service from 0900 hrs on 04/06/2021 to 1730 hrs on 06/06/2021.

During this outage, SA will remain connected to the rest of the NEM via the Tailem Bend - South East 275kV No 1 line and the 132kV network.

A credible contingency event on the Tailem Bend - South East 275kV No 1 line during this planned outage will sever the 275kV connections between Victoria and SA. If SA remains connected to Victoria via the 132kV network only, this will pose a system security issue.

If the above credible contingencies occurs, AEMO will take all necessary steps as outlined in Section 3.1 of SO_OP_3715 Power System Security Guideline to separate the 132kV network and therefore manage an orderly separation of SA from the rest of the NEM.

Planned outage of Heywood No.1 500kV Busbar in Victoria region on 16 May 2021

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

This market notice is FOR INFORMATION ONLY.

The Heywood No.1 500 kV busbar in Victoria Region is planned out of service on the 16 May 2021 from 0700hrs-1900hrs.

A credible contingency event during this planned outage could cause synchronous separation of the South Australia (SA) region from the rest of the NEM. If separation occurs, load may be interrupted due to the operation of the Automatic Under Frequency Load Shedding (AUFLS) scheme in SA.

The credible separation contingency is managed as follows:

When power transfer is from SA to Victoria (Vic), contingency lower FCAS will be sourced from SA.
When power transfer is from Vic to SA, due to the 47-52Hz island separation frequency band advised by the SA jurisdiction, contingency raise FCAS is not sourced in SA and the AUFLS scheme may respond to low frequency events.
Power transfer will be restricted on Victoria - South Australia interconnector (Heywood interconnector).

Forecast capacity reserves in the SA region are currently sufficient to meet electricity demand during the planned outage.

The following constraint sets have been invoked for this outage:

F-I-HYSE
S-X_BC_CP
V-HYTX_M12
V-HY_500BUS
I-VS_050

Refer AEMO Network Outage Schedule (NOS) for further details.

Planned outage of Heywood to Mortlake 500kV line Circuit Breaker (213) in the Victoria region on 2/05/2021

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

The Heywood Mortlake power station No. 2 line No. 2 bus 500kV Circuit Breaker (213) in the Victoria (VIC) region is planned to be out of service from 0700 hrs to 1900 hrs on 2/05/2021.

-When power transfer is from SA to Victoria, contingency lower FCAS will be sourced from SA.
-When power transfer is from Victoria to SA, due to the 47-52Hz island separation frequency band advised by the SA jurisdiction, contingency raise FCAS is not sourced in SA and the AUFLS scheme may respond to low frequency events.
-Power transfer will be restricted on Victoria - South Australia interconnector (Heywood interconnector) to manage system security following the loss of the next contingency.

Forecast capacity reserves in the SA region are currently sufficient to meet electricity demand during the planned outage.

The following constraint sets have been invoked for this outage:

F-I-HYSE

Reduction in load relieff in Tasmanian region - 28th April 2021

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

Further to MN 80127 and 83867, on 28th April at 1000hrs AEMO will reduce the load relief used to determine FCAS requirements from 0.3% to 0.2% for the Tasmanian region. This will increase the amount of contingency FCAS enabled by AEMO in the Tasmanian region.

This change is a part of AEMO's review of frequency in the NEM. The Tasmanian load relief will be slowly reduced by 0.1% on a four weekly basis. Details were provided to market participants in an industry teleconference on 4th December 2020. For more information refer to: https://www.aemo.com.au/energy-systems/electricity/national-electricity-market-nem/system-operations/ancillary-services/load-relief

There will be no change at this stage to the Mainland load relief.

The next change (to 0.1%) is planned for 26th May 2021.
