Cancellation of a Non-Credible Contingency Event: Lindisfarne - Mornington No.1 TEE line and Lindisfarne - Mornington No.2 TEE line in TAS1 due to Lightning.

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

Cancellation of reclassification of a Non-Credible Contingency Event as a Credible Contingency Event due to Lightning. AEMO considers the simultaneous trip of the following circuits is no longer reasonably possible. There is no longer any lightning activity in the vicinity of the following lines. Accordingly its classification has reverted to a non-credible contingency event.

Region: TAS1

Lines: Lindisfarne - Mornington No.1 TEE and Lindisfarne - Mornington No.2 TEE

Direction - SA region - 05/05/2020

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE.

Direction - SA region - 05/05/2020

In accordance with section 116 of the National Electricity Law, AEMO has issued a direction to a participant in the SA region. For the purposes of the National Electricity Rules this is a direction under clause 4.8.9(a).

The direction was necessary to maintain the power system in a secure operating state.

AEMO may issue or revoke additional directions in order to meet the current requirement, unless sufficient market response is provided. A further market notice will be issued when all directions related to this requirement have been cancelled.

The issue of the direction commences an AEMO intervention event. AEMO declares all dispatch intervals during the event to be intervention dispatch intervals, commencing from the interval ending 1505 hrs on 05/05/2020.

Intervention pricing does not apply to this AEMO intervention event.

Update - Possible intervention to manage power system security in South Australia (SA) Region

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

Update - Possible intervention to manage power system security in South Australia (SA) Region

Refer AEMO Electricity Market Notice 75572

The synchronous generating units expected to be synchronised in SA from 2330 hrs 05/05/2020 to 0600 hrs 06/05/2020 in Pre-dispatch published at 1230 hrs 05/05/2020 are inadequate to maintain sufficient system strength in SA and hence a secure operating state.

AEMO currently estimates that, in the absence of sufficient market response by 1500 hrs 05/05/2020, AEMO may need to intervene by issuing a direction requiring one or more SA synchronous generating unit(s) to operate or remain synchronised to maintain power system security in SA.

75574RESERVE NOTICE05/05/2020 11:53:54 AM

RESERVE NOTICE MT PASA PUBLICATION 05 May 2020

The MTPASA result published on 05 May 2020 identifies no Low Reserve Conditions.

Please note that MTPASA informs the market of potential reliability issues to allow the market to respond in the first instance, potentially avoiding the need for any market intervention or direction from AEMO.

For further information, please refer to:
https://www.aemo.com.au/Electricity/National-Electricity-Market-NEM/Data/Market-Management-System-MMS/Projected-Assessment-of-System-Adequacy

This notice supersedes Market Notice 75488 published on 28 April 2020.

Background
As part of a broader process of implementing the reliability standard, AEMO runs the Medium Term Projected Assessment of System Adequacy (MTPASA) process weekly to forecast expected unserved energy levels over a two year period. If the expected annual unserved energy exceeds the maximum level specified by the Reliability Standard, a Low Reserve Condition is identified.

For more information about how AEMO implements the reliability standard, please view the Reliability Standard Implementation Guidelines (RSIG) available on AEMO's website at
https://www.aemo.com.au/Electricity/National-Electricity-Market-NEM/Planning-and-forecasting/Reliability-Standard-Implementation-Guidelines
