Loop Constraint Formulation Review

As part of preparations for integrating Project Energy Connect into the National Electricity Market Dispatch Engine (NEMDE), AEMO engaged ACIL Allen and SW Advisory to independently review its proposed inter-regional loop-flow and network security constraint formulations. The review assessed the underlying theory, mathematical formulation, assumptions, operational limitations and expected dispatch and pricing outcomes, supported by benchmark modelling and comparative testing.

The review was completed in July 2026. Its findings and recommendations informed AEMO’s final approach to implementing loop-flow and security constraints for Project Energy Connect in NEMDE.
