NON-CONFORMANCE NSW1 Region Wednesday, 9 September 2020
AEMO declared a schedule generating unit non-conforming

Amount: -112 MW
Constraint: NC-N_VP5

Direction - SA region - 09/09/2020
Direction - SA region - 09/09/2020
In accordance with section 116 of the National Electricity Law, AEMO has issued a direction to a participant in the SA region. For the purposes of the National Electricity Rules this is a direction under clause 4.8.9(a).
The direction was necessary to maintain the power system in a secure operating state.
AEMO may issue or revoke additional directions in order to meet the current requirement, unless sufficient market response is provided. A further market notice will be issued when all directions related to this requirement have been cancelled.
The issue of the direction commences an AEMO intervention event. AEMO declares all dispatch intervals during the event to be intervention dispatch intervals, commencing from the interval ending 2005 hrs on 09/09/2020.
Intervention pricing does not apply to this AEMO intervention event.

Possible intervention to manage power system security in South Australia (SA) Region
Possible intervention to manage power system security in South Australia (SA) Region
The synchronous generating units expected to be synchronised in SA from 1000 hrs 10/09/2020 to 1500 hrs 10/09/2020 in Pre-dispatch published at 1730 hrs 09/09/2020 are inadequate to maintain sufficient system strength in SA and hence a secure operating state.
AEMO currently estimates that, in the absence of sufficient market response by 2000 hrs 09/09/2020, AEMO may need to intervene by issuing a direction requiring one or more SA synchronous generating unit(s) to operate or remain synchronised to maintain power system security in SA.

Update to Vic to NSW voltage collapse limit
Refer to market notice 63893
AEMO is currently revising the existing voltage collapse constraint equation for Victoria to NSW transfers for the simultaneous loss of all APD potlines. The existing equation requires a review for record low Victorian demands and high transfers to NSW. To reduce the instances of AEMO invoking discretionary limits while this review is being completed an offset of 250 MW will be applied to the existing constraint equation.
This change will occur at 1400 hrs 9th September 2020.
The following constraint equation will be modified:
V^^N_NIL_1
For further details on this new constraint equation please contact ben.blake@aemo.com.au
