Following an undertaking from Professionals Australia that addresses AEMO’s concerns about potential impacts on public health and safety, AEMO has discontinued its application to the Fair Work Commission seeking the termination or suspension of protected industrial action.
AEMO lodged the application in October, having considered that these risks could not be adequately managed through business continuity and risk management measures alone.
Since lodging the application, AEMO has worked constructively with Professionals Australia to build a shared understanding of the potential impacts of the notified actions. Following the undertaking by the union, AEMO has discontinued the application.
All other notified protected industrial action remains in place. AEMO respects the lawful right of eligible employees to participate in protected industrial action.
Enterprise agreement discussions are continuing through Fair Work Commission conciliation. AEMO remains committed to good-faith negotiations on an enterprise agreement that recognises the significant contribution of our people and provides a competitive offer, while remaining sustainable and considerate of costs to industry and consumers.
Our focus remains on supporting our people, maintaining safe and reliable operations and working constructively towards an agreement that is fair and competitive for employees and appropriate for the environment in which AEMO operates.
