Directions to SA Generators – 11, 12 & 15 November 2025 and 7, 25 & 26 December 2025

To maintain power system security, AEMO issued directions to market participants on 11, 12 and 15 November 2025, and 7, 25 and 26 December 2025 in response to minimum system load (MSL) events in South Australia.

On 11 November 2025, a forecast MSL2 condition was identified in South Australia. To maintain system security, AEMO issued a direction to TIB1.

Similarly, on 12 November 2025 a forecast MSL2 condition was identified in South Australia. To maintain system security, AEMO issued a direction to TIB1

On 15 November 2025, a forecast MSL1 condition was identified in South Australia which developed into a forecast MSL2 condition. To maintain system security, AEMO issued a direction to TIB1

On 7 December 2025, a forecast MSL2 condition was identified in South Australia. To maintain power system security, AEMO issued a direction to BLYTHB1.

Similar actions were taken on 25 and 26 December 2025 in response to forecast MSL2 conditions identified in South Australia. Consequently, AEMO issued directions to BLYTHB1 to maintain power system security.

Where AEMO intervenes in the National Electricity Market (NEM) through the use of directions, AEMO must publish a report in accordance with National Electricity Rules (NER) clauses 4.8.9(f) and 3.13.6A.
