Procedure for Accessing AEMO Systems

In April 2026, the AEMC published a final determination and new rules (National Electricity Rules and National Gas Rules) aimed at enhancing access for electricity and gas Registered Participant representatives by enabling AEMO to share confidential information directly with specific third parties that Registered Participants are already permitted to share information with. The AEMC’s final determination and new rules require AEMO to consult on the development of a new procedure which will specify the requirements, and terms and conditions of access, to be met by electricity and gas Registered Participants and their representatives in order to access confidential information and data held by AEMO.

The publication of this issues paper commences AEMO’s consultation on the proposal to create a new procedure, effective May 2027, to cover the processes by which market participants and accredited organisations can access AEMO systems.
