Matter under consultation

The Australian power system is undergoing significant change, driven by increasing levels of inverter-based resources, energy storage, distributed energy resources, large industrial loads and evolving system security requirements.

To support this transition, AEMO is developing its inaugural Power System Modelling Strategy (PSMS) to establish a long-term direction and roadmap for power system modelling. The strategy will inform future modelling priorities, capability development and stakeholder engagement, and will help guide the subsequent review of the Power System Modelling Guidelines (PSMG). The PSMG review will provide stakeholders with an opportunity to help shape future modelling requirements, while addressing known industry issues and emerging modelling challenges.

Consultation submissions on the consultation paper are due in PDF format to [email protected] by 5:00 pm (Melbourne time) 14 October 2026. Please note that submissions will be published, other than confidential material, as per AEMO’s Consultation submission guidelines.
