Matter under consultation

Each year, AEMO collaborates with key industry stakeholders on the development of the General Power System Risk Review (GPSRR) report for the National Electricity Market (NEM). The GPSRR is an annual requirement under section 5.20A of the National Electricity Rules (NER), with the GPSRR report being published on or before 31 July each year.

The GPSRR provides a forward-looking view of low-probability but high-impact risks. Based on analysis and consultation throughout the review process, the 2026 GPSRR assesses four priority risks identified through the 2026 GPSRR approach consultation process.

The report reviews these priority risks and proposes recommendations to enable actions that will support the secure operation of the future power system. It also reflects progress already underway to manage emerging risks and identifies where further coordination and targeted effort will strengthen system resilience, while demonstrating the consequences of not taking these actions.

Submissions to the draft 2026 GPSRR report were open between May and June 2026. Stakeholders were invited to provide written submissions on the findings and recommendations contained in the draft report and to provide early views on potential focus areas for future GPSRRs.

The final report, consultation summary report and consultation submissions are published below. AEMO thanks all stakeholders who contributed feedback and participated in engagement activities throughout the 2026 GPSRR process.
