2026 Gas Participant Fee Structure consultation

AEMO is consulting on the determination of the structure of participant fees in accordance with clause 135CA of the National Gas Rules, for the next fee period commencing 1 July 2027.

This consultation only applies to the structure of fees. The actual amount charged for each fee will be determined on an annual basis through AEMO’s budget and fees process. Included in the consultation scope are the following AEMO functions: Declared Wholesale Gas Market (DWGM), Short Term Trading Market (STTM), Retail gas markets (VIC, NSW/ACT, QLD. SA), Gas Bulletin Board (GBB), Gas Statement of Opportunities (GSOO), Energy Consumers Australia (ECA), Pipeline Capacity Trading and auction services, East Coast Gas System (ECGS) Reliability, and Cyber security roles and responsibilities.

The consultation paper was open for public consultation from 19 August 2026 to 9 September 2026. AEMO is now accepting written submissions from interested persons on the draft determination to [email protected] by 5:00pm AEDT on 18 December 2026.
