Non-credible contingency event - TAS region - 11/04/2026

At 1357 hrs the Farrell -Tribute 220 kV line, Farrell - John Butters 220kV Lines and Farrell - Mackintosh 110kV Line tripped.

AEMO did not instruct load shedding.

AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.

The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE.

Non-credible contingency event - TAS region - 10/04/2026

At 1646 hrs the Farrell - Reece No.1 220 kV and Farrell - Reece No.2 220 kV lines tripped.

AEMO did not instruct load shedding.

AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.

The cause of the trip was identified as due to lightning.

In accordance with SO_OP_3715, the Farrell - Reece No.1 and No.2 220 kV lines are considered vulnerable with a category of probable due to lightning.

At the time of the trip, Farrell - Reece No.1 220 kV and Farrell - Reece No.2 220 kV lines were not reclassified due to lightning.

AEMO considers the simultaneous trip of the following circuits to now be more likely and reasonably possible. Accordingly AEMO has reclassified it as a credible contingency event from 16:50 hrs until further notice.

[1.] From 1830 hrs 07/04/2026 to 2300 hrs 07/04/2026.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 473 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 360 MW.

The advisory MSL thresholds are:

- MSL3: -344 MW

The demand is below the MSL1 threshold.

AEMO has detected that there is an elevated risk of insufficient demand to maintain a secure operating state in the SA on 04/04/2026.

Minimum System Load (MSL) conditions are forecast when demand is less than the relevant MSL threshold. The advisory MSL thresholds are:
- MSL1: 68 MW
- MSL2: -83 MW
- MSL3: -344 MW

The demand is forecast to be below the MSL1 threshold for the following period[s]:
(1) From 1300 hrs 04/04/2026 to 1330 hrs 04/04/2026. Minimum demand is forecast to be 7 MW at 1330 hrs.

AEMO has detected that there is an elevated risk of insufficient demand to maintain a secure operating state in the VIC on 04/04/2026.

Minimum System Load (MSL) conditions are forecast when demand is less than the relevant MSL threshold. The advisory MSL thresholds are:
- MSL1: 1660MW
- MSL2: 1160 MW
- MSL3: 660 MW

The demand is forecast to be below the MSL1 threshold for the following period[s]:
(1) From 1330 hrs 04/04/2026 to 1400 hrs 04/04/2026. Minimum demand is forecast to be 1619 MW at 1400 hrs.
