The AEMO Intervention Event is expected to affect dispatch quantities for intervention pricing purposes from the 17:20 hrs dispatch interval on 17/12/2020

Reliability and Emergency Reserve Trader (RERT) Intention to negotiate for additional reserve - NSW1 Region- 17/12/2020
Refer to AEMO Electricity Market Notice no. 81329.
AEMO intends to commence negotiations with RERT Panel members for the provision of additional reserve by issuing requests for tender for the following period of time;
14:40 to 18:30 hrs 17/12/2020
If reserve is required, the period of activation or dispatch will be within this period but may not be for the entire period.
AEMO will issue a further advice if reserve is contracted.

In accordance with section 116 of the National Electricity Law, AEMO has issued a direction to a participant in the SA region. For the purposes of the National Electricity Rules this is a direction under clause 4.8.9(a).
The direction was necessary to maintain the power system in a secure operating state.
AEMO may issue or revoke additional directions in order to meet the current requirement, unless sufficient market response is provided. A further market notice will be issued when all directions related to this requirement have been cancelled.
The issue of the direction commences an AEMO intervention event. AEMO declares all dispatch intervals during the event to be intervention dispatch intervals, commencing from the interval ending 1805 hrs on 16/12/2020.
Intervention pricing does not apply to this AEMO intervention event.

The synchronous generating units expected to be synchronised in SA from 17/12/2020 0130 hrs to 18/12/2020 0400 hrs in Pre-dispatch published at 16/12/2020 1430 hrs are inadequate to maintain sufficient system strength in SA and hence a secure operating state.
AEMO currently estimates that, in the absence of sufficient market response by 16/12/2020 1800 hrs, AEMO may need to intervene by issuing a direction requiring one or more SA synchronous generating unit(s) to synchronise or remain synchronised to maintain power system security in SA.

The synchronous generating units expected to be synchronised in SA from 11/12/2020 0400 hrs to 12/12/2020 0400 hrs in Pre-dispatch published at 10/12/2020 1300 hrs are sufficient to maintain system strength in SA, however following a credible contingency event AEMO will not be able to return SA to a secure operating state within 30 minutes.
AEMO currently estimates that, in the absence of sufficient market response by 10/12/2020 1700 hrs, AEMO may need to intervene by issuing a direction requiring one or more SA synchronous generating unit(s) to synchronise or remain synchronised to maintain power system security in SA.
