[EventId:202101251240_NRM_VIC1_SA1_started] NEGRES CONSTRAINT NRM_VIC1_SA1 started operating from 25 January 2021 12:40
Issued by Australian Energy Market Operator Ltd at 1240 hrs on 25 January 2021
ACTUAL NEGATIVE SETTLEMENT RESIDUES - VIC to SA - 25 January 2021.
Electricity Market outcomes have resulted in the accumulation of negative settlement residues that have exceeded the allowable negative residue threshold for the VIC to SA directional interconnector.
The negative residue constraint set NRM_VIC1_SA1 commenced operating from 1240 hrs on 25 January 2021.
This constraint set contains an equation with the following interconnectors on the LHS:
V-S-MNSP1
V-SA
The RHS of the constraint equation may be adjusted to manage residues.
This is an AEMO autogenerated Market Notice.
Reclassification of a Non-Credible Contingency Event: Farrell-John Butters line and Farrell-Rosebery-Newton-Queenstown line in TAS1 due to Lightning.
Reclassification of a Non-Credible Contingency Event as a Credible Contingency Event due to Lightning. AEMO considers the simultaneous trip of the following circuits to now be more likely and reasonably possible. Accordingly AEMO has reclassified it as a credible contingency event.

Possible intervention to manage power system security in South Australia (SA) Region
Possible intervention to manage power system security in South Australia (SA) Region
The combination of synchronous generating units currently expected to be synchronised in SA from 0100 hrs 26/01/2021 will not provide sufficient system strength in SA to maintain the power system in a secure operating state.
In the absence of sufficient market response AEMO may need to intervene by issuing a direction requiring one or more SA synchronous generating unit(s) to operate or remain synchronised from 0100 hrs 26/01/2021 to maintain power system security in SA. Refer to current Transfer Limit Advice for SA system strength on AEMOs website.
If necessary, AEMO will estimate and publish the latest time at which AEMO would need to intervene after the 1230 hrs predispatch run on the 25/01/2021.
