WA DER Register

The WEM DER Register

Large numbers - and continuing growth - of DER installations is prevalent in the West Australian Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM). As outlined in the Western Australian Government’s DER Roadmap, AEMO has implementeda DER Register for the WEM to collect and make data available on installed DER across the South West Interconnected System (SWIS).

Benefits of the expansion of the DER Register to encompass the SWIS include improvements in:

  • Planning, where the increased visibility of DER and their associated performance characteristics will increase confidence in planning and design, reducing the need for conservative decisions.
  • Operation of power systems with enhanced load forecasting and modelling capability.
  • DER asset and installation integrity.
  • Data records and reporting.

The WEM DER Register is a collaboration between AEMO, Western Power and the Western Australian Government, and was launched on 1 March 2021.

For more information on how the WEM DER Register will be implemented, please refer to the WEM DER Register Information Procedure.
