      Consultations
  • Energex has identified through forward planning, future network limitations in the Birtinya area on the Currimundi Zone Substation and 11 kV feeders from the Currimundi Zone Substation.

To ensure we continue to provide a safe and reliable electricity supply well into the future, Energex initiated a program of action in accordance with Schedule 5.1 of the National Electricity Rules.

In accordance with clause 11.50.5 of the National Electricity Rules, Energex has conducted a Regulatory Test to analyse and assess the efficiency of new network augmentation investments and non-network alternative options that address the projected network limitations.

In accordance with the Rules, Energex invited submissions from Registered Participants and interested parties in the associated Consultation Report.

No submissions were received within the consultation period. Accordingly the draft recommendation, contained in the Consultation Report, has been finalised and is outlined in the Final Report - "Proposed Augmentation in the Birtinya Area to Establish New Zone Substation” - which is available to affected Registered Participants, AEMO and interested parties on the Energex website via the link below:

    https://www.energex.com.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/186588/Birtinya-Final-Report-V1.1-PAR2013-124.pdf

The report recommends Energex establish a new 132/11 kV zone substation at Birtinya, for a total estimated cost of $20,904,485 at 2013/14 prices. The target completion date for the recommended development is May 2015.

In accordance with the Rules, Registered Participants may dispute the recommendation within 40 working days of its publication. Submissions in this regard are due Friday 21 March 2014.
