The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Joe Locandro to the role of Chief Digital and Technology Officer.
Mr Locandro was formerly Vice President Business Technology Solutions at Emirates Airlines (Emirates) and integral to the Emirates Group’s IT Leadership team responsible for establishing an effective and consistent IT customer experience. Before joining Emirates, Joe held a variety of executive roles at Cathay Pacific Airlines, China Light & Power, its subsidiary Yallourn Energy – AusPower and Village Roadshow.
With over 18 years’ of experience in executive IT management, Joe has a proven track record in delivering for global blue chip organisations across the world and has been widely recognised for his achievements and awarded several accolades including CIO of the year, top 100 global CIO of the year and Asia IT Innovator award.
“Joe is well placed to lead AEMO’s Technology teams with his extensive experience and cross-industry exposure. He is highly regarded for his ability to create value for organisations by identifying business opportunities using emerging technologies,” said Ms Audrey Zibelman, AEMO’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Locandro holds a bachelor's degree in Economics and Commerce from University of Melbourne, a graduate diploma in Marketing from Monash University and Strategic Application of Information Technology from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
