Electricity Registration Guides & Forms

Registering as a participant in the NEM is a complex process. It requires input and approvals from various government and industry bodies, and can be a time consuming exercise.

The following processes are external to AEMO's registration process but need to be considered if intending to register in the NEM, so applicants should:

Notes on AEMO's participant registration process:

  • The same process is followed for all applicants, but each category has its own form reflecting the different information required by AEMO to assess the application.
  • AEMO has 5 business days in which to make an initial assessment of an application and to respond to the applicant, advising of any additional information is required.
  • Once all necessary information is received, AEMO have a further 15 business days to finalise the application.
  • Compiling the information required in an application, particularly in the case of generation applications, can be a complex and time consuming process.
