Interconnector Limits for MTPASA

AEMO uses inter-regional network constraints and intra-regional network constraints as an input to the Medium Term Projected Assessment of System Adequacy (MT PASA).

There are inherent limitations with constraint modelling in the MT PASA period due to the limited inputs and high demand forecast required for the system reliability assessment. This requires more simplified constraints representation than those used in dispatch or pre-dispatch.

Despite the limitations of constraint modelling in the MT PASA, AEMO recognizes that there is scope to improve network constraints within MT PASA, and to provide clearer explanations of the assumptions made in determining these constraints.

This document describes the process AEMO uses in forecasting interconnector limits for MT PASA.
