Overview of the NEM

This is the ideal course for newcomers to the electricity industry or people looking to expand their general knowledge of the NEM.

Over the two days, we look to provide attendees with a broad understanding of how the NEM fits together, as both a physical power system and a wholesale market for electricity. It answers questions like:

    • How is the power system operated?
    • What are the processes involved in network planning?
    • How is the wholesale market price set and what factors affect it?
    • What are ancillary services used for and how are they priced?
    • Why is metering data important to the way the NEM works?
    • How does AEMO settle the NEM each week?
    • Key decisions in the NEM: how are they made and by whom?

A very popular course, the Overview of the NEM has already provided hundreds of industry people with the knowledge they need to better carry out their jobs. Some of their comments are as follows:

    • "Excellent course - one of the best I have been to."
    • "Lectures were comprehensive yet at a level that anyone could understand and find relevant."
    • "Very well organised, presenters were top-notch and well versed in their particular areas of experience."
    • "Was a great course and I got loads out of it - thank you."

We are running the course 8 times in 2010; in Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, , Melbourne, and Hobart.
