Aurora Energy and Transend Networks, Final Report - Development of the Electricity Supply Network in the Kingston Area

Transend and Aurora are proposing to construct a new small transmission asset and new large distribution assets to maintain supply standards in the Kingston area. The area has been defined as that extending from Mount Nelson to Margate including Kingston, Blackman’s Bay, Margate and Electrona.

The proposal has the following major components:

  • the establishment of a new 33 kV connection point in the Kingston area;
  • the augmentation of the existing Kingston Substation to incorporate the new 33 kV connection point; and
  • the establishment of a new zone substation and new distribution feeders in the Kingston area.

The cost of these works is estimated at $33.48 million, and the work will be completed prior to the winter of 2012.
