Energex Project Approval Report : MGL Moggill Establish New 11 kV Feeder to Relieve MGL5 and Improve Reliability in the Area

ENERGEX's electricity distribution network spans more than 25,000 square kilometres throughout South East Queensland including the dynamic growth regions of Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. With a 30% increase in our customers numbers in the past 10 years and demand and energy sales forecast to grow significantly in the next few years, ENERGEX will continue to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in building and maintaining robust networks to keep pace with one of Australia's fastest growing regions. This includes meeting targets to constantly improve reliability.

ENERGEX has identified through forward planning, future network limitations in the Moggill area. To ensure we continue to provide a safe and reliable electricity supply well into the future, ENERGEX will initiate a program of action in accordance with Schedule 5.1 of the National Electricity Rules. In accordance with clause 5.6.2(g) of the National Electricity Rules, ENERGEX has conducted a Regulatory Test to analyse and assess the efficiency of new network augmentation investments and non-network alternative options that address the projected network limitations.

This analysis and subsequent recommendation is outlined in the Project Approval Report - "MGL Moggill Establish New 11 kV Feeder to Relieve MGL5 and Improve Reliability in the Area" - which is available to affected Registered Participants, AEMO and interested parties and will be available on the ENERGEX website via the link below until 28 February 2010.
