      Consultations
  • This consultation on the Metrology Procedure: Part A and Part B was undertaken in response to a request from the Tasmanian Government.

    Background

As part of its suite of electricity reforms announced in May 2102, the Tasmanian Government is committed to commence full retail contestability for all its customers form 1 January 2014.

Implementation of this decision requires a number of technical and procedural instruments under National Electricity Law and the National Electricity Rules to be amended to enable these customers to operate as contestable customers in the National Electricity Market.

In particular, Metrology Procedures Part A and Part B require minor amendment to ensure that these procedures apply to all electricity customers in Tasmania from 1 January 2014. To commence the consultation process in accordance with the Rule 8.9 of the National Electricity Rules, the Tasmanian Government submitted proposed changes to the Metrology Procedures Part A and Part B to AEMO.

The consultation has now been completed, and AEMO has published the Final Determination and Report.

The effective date of amended Metrology Procedure is 1 January 2014.
