Maximum Credit Limit calculator
The Maximum Credit Limit (MCL) calculator is a useful tool that enables participants to estimate how increasing or decreasing load, generation, and reallocations affects MCL, Oustandings Limit (OSL), and Prudential Margin (PM) reviewed under the Credit Limit Procedures.
The MCL calculator uses the latest average prices, volatility factors, outstandings limit time period, and reaction period for each specified season (summer, winter, or shoulder). It’s important to use the correct MCL calculator for the corresponding review season.
The 2017 annual review of AEMO’s Credit Limits Procedures (CLP) found that with the inclusion of settlement data up to 30 November 2016, the 2% prudential standard was not met for 2016, for all regions. For this reason, AEMO has decided to recalibrate the life of NEM model through the adjustment of the Volatility Factor (VF) percentiles to more accurately reflect current market conditions. The 2017 shoulder 2 scheduled review is the first MCL review using the recalibrated VF percentiles. A new 2017 shoulder MCL calculator is provided for 2017 shoulder 2 season. The previously published 2017 shoulder MCL calculator is superceded.
