Gas Supply Guarantee
In March 2017, Production Facility Operators and Pipeline Operators made commitments to the Commonwealth Government to make gas available to meet peak demand periods in the National Electricity Market. The Gas Supply Guarantee is a mechanism developed by the gas industry to facilitate the delivery of these commitments.
The Gas Supply Guarantee mechanism comprises new processes to identify, assess and confirm a potential gas supply shortfall as well as processes to communicate with industry and to call for a response to a shortfall.
Gas Supply Guarantee Guidelines
The Guidelines document the mechanism’s industry-wide processes and were developed in consultation with industry.
The guidelines become effective on 1 December 2017.

Extended Pre-dispatch Report
The Extended Pre-dispatch report contains indicative regional reference prices, interconnector flows, binding constraint information as well as a projection of aggregate daily fuel use by gas-powered generation in the NEM.

The Extended Pre-dispatch report contains indicative regional prices, interconnector flows, binding constraint information as well as a projection of aggregate daily fuel use by gas-powered generation in the NEM.
AEMO has prepared the report by extending the inputs to the pre-dispatch system to cover a 7 day period. Inputs for the extended 7 day pre-dispatch period are different to those for pre-dispatch. In particular, there is no obligation in the National Electricity Rules on a generator to provide a bid to AEMO outside of the pre-dispatch window. For trading intervals where a generator has not provided a bid to AEMO in the extended pre-dispatch period, their most recent valid bid is used in the preparation of the report. As such, the report contents may not be reflective of bids subsequently submitted during pre-dispatch. For more information about the inputs and processing of the report please see the Guide to Extended Pre-dispatch report on the AEMO website.
Further, the report is reproduced (with any updated inputs) at least once a day.
The report has been prepared to support the identification of a potential gas supply shortfall in the NEM as per the Gas Supply Guarantee Guidelines. The report is not designed for use as an input to the valuation of forward energy market contracts.
