Pricing Event Reports

AEMO reports on electricity market outcomes for events with a regional reference price exceeding $300 per MWh or below -$30 per MWh in a 30-minute trading interval.  These reports are brief and posted within 4 business days of the event.

The reports also explain:

  • the factors contributing to the abnormal pricing outcomes
  • whether outcomes were consistent with dispatch offers and power system conditions; and
  • the performance of Pre-dispatch in forecasting the abnormal outcomes

The document Factors Contributing to Differences between Dispatch and Pre-dispatch Outcomes explains the various factors that can contribute to forecasting differences between Dispatch and Pre-dispatch outcomes.

Price Revision Reports

AEMO has established procedures to identify Dispatch Intervals that have been affected by manifestly incorrect inputs to the Market Dispatch Engine (NEMDE). National Electricity Rule 3.9.2B(g) requires AEMO to publish a report for each instance where the procedures lead to dispatch interval prices being replaced. This Rule came into effect from 1 June 2006.

For further information contact AEMO’s Information Centre.

Reports on Directions

The introduction of the Direction Review changes to the National Electricity Rules, on 9 December 2002, require AEMO, pursuant to clause 3.13.6A, to publish reports providing background information related to directions issued to Registered Participants.

For information regarding Reports on Directions please contact Brian Nelson, Electricity Market Performance.
