In situations where operational data is not received by the EMS, the AEMO operator can enter a manual figure. Originally referred to as "hand adressing" but has been abbreviated to hand-dressing.
A measurement designed to reflect the amount of energy required to heat a home or a business. The number of degrees that a day's average temperature is below a base temperature (e.g. 18.5°C), the temperature below which buildings need to be heated.
Heating Degree Day
A financial instrument to manage the risk created by price volatility for a commodity (such as electricity or crude oil) on a spot market. Buyers and sellers of the commodity may enter into long or short-term contracts that set an agreed price for the commodity outside the spot market.
A contract between generators and wholesale buyers relating to the future supply and consumption of electricity, which seeks to reduce the financial risk associated with fluctuating wholesale pool prices.
