QLD STTM Project
The Queensland STTM Project was launched soon after commencement of the Short-Term Trading Market (STTM) in September 2010 at trading hubs in Sydney and Adelaide. The project was responsible for the implementation of the STTM in Queensland with the establishment of a trading hub based around Brisbane in December 2011.
AEMO, in consultation with participants, developed the Market Readiness Approach as the framework for measurement, tracking and reporting of the readiness of the market. The market readiness was measured and published on a regular basis up until the commencement of the Brisbane hub.
AEMO, in consultation with the STTM-CF and the GRCF-Q, prepared a set of amendments to the NGR, STTM procedures and Retail Market Procedures to support the implementation of the STTM at the Brisbane hub.
AEMO undertook extensive training of participants in Brisbane covering the core trading, scheduling and settlement aspects of the STTM.
The Market Trial was a full-scale, ‘as-real’ operational trial of all market systems and processes. The trial gave participants, and AEMO as Market Operator, an opportunity to validate market operations prior to commencement of the Brisbane hub.
