National Electricity Market Registration
To participate in the National Electricity Market (NEM), including associated trading activities conducted by AEMO under the National Electricity Rules (NER) you must register in one of the following participant categories:
- Small generator aggregator
- Network service provider
- Special participant
- Intending participant

To register, an applicant must satisfy AEMO that it:
- Meets any eligibility requirements specified for the registered participant category.
- Is (and will be) able to fulfil applicable financial obligations relating to market participants.
- Has demonstrated an ability to comply with the NER.

New applicants must be well informed about the NEM and their obligations as a registered participant. These obligations arise under both the NER and the NEM procedures. While AEMO’s National Electricity Market webpage provides a high-level overview, AEMO recommends obtaining expert advice if you are new to the market.
