Impact and Implementation Report IN016/11 - Inclusion of next Scheduled Read Date

The next scheduled read date (NSRD) is not currently provided to Retailers in the NSW-ACT retail gas market. This is unlike Procedural obligations in Vic, SA, and Qld that govern the provision of this information from the Network Operator (Distributor).

The NSRD is a critical piece of information applied by Retailers to facilitate demand forecasting and customer transfer management. It also promotes efficient and transparent metering operations between Network Operators and Retailers. The provision of a NSRD allows for change of user (COU) transactions to be planned around scheduled meter reads and for customers to be given a more accurate indication of when a transfer will occur.

Under the National Energy Retail Rules (NERR) and the Gas Supply (Natural Gas Retail Competition) Regulation 2001 (NSW) (GSR), the NSRD is also prescribed information required in a small customer bill from a Retailer.
